The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) – Ethiopia, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), successfully hosted a One-Day Validation Workshop on the Capacity and Service Provision Assessment of One-Stop Service Centers (OSSCs) in Addis Ababa on March 20, 2025, at NORA RESORT, Bishoftu.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to review the assessment findings, validate recommendations, and identify priority areas for improving OSSC services.
Discussions focused on addressing critical challenges, including staff training gaps, fragmented service coordination, and the absence of standardized operating procedures (SOPs), all of which are essential for enhancing efficiency and accessibility.
A key highlight of the workshop was the presentation of the OSSC Training Curriculum, a structured program designed to equip staff with essential skills for business support, employment facilitation, and effective service delivery.
Additionally, stakeholders were introduced to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) framework, aimed at ensuring consistent, high-quality service provision across all OSSCs. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, provided valuable feedback, and collectively identified priority areas for intervention. The workshop also reinforced the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to drive sustainable improvements in service delivery.
The Validation Workshop was attended by His Excellency Solomon Soka, State Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLS), Dr. Hassen Hussen, CEO of EDI, and Laurence Hunzinger, Senior Programme Officer and Coordinator of the Migration Management and Governance Unit at IOM Ethiopia.
This event marks a significant step toward enhancing labor migration management, job creation, and entrepreneurship development in Ethiopia. Moving forward, the implementation of the training curriculum and SOPs will play a crucial role in optimizing OSSC services and strengthening SME competitiveness.
