EDI and Ethiopian Engineering Corporation Sign MoU to Drive Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) and the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation (EEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 15, 2026, during a ceremony in Addis Ababa.

This strategic partnership establishes a cooperative framework designed to accelerate corporate entrepreneurship, organizational transformation, and innovation across EEC’s major infrastructure and engineering operations.

This agreement builds on the operational momentum established during a high-level executive training program held earlier this year. From March 21 to 23, 2026, EDI conducted a three-day intensive workshop in Bishoftu titled "Accelerating Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship" for EEC’s top leadership team. The session encouraged corporate leaders to shift their focus from basic, routine performance metrics toward systemic, long-term innovation.

By guiding leadership to think like adaptive, opportunity-driven entrepreneurs, the workshop catalyzed a mindset shift that transformed ideas into tangible action plans and fostered the strategic alignment and trust necessary to culminate in this formalized partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate to design, install, and institutionalize a sustainable corporate innovation and entrepreneurship system within EEC. This partnership merges EDI’s national enterprise development expertise with EEC’s multidisciplinary engineering and construction capabilities to drive human capital upgrading, strategy formulation, and targeted institutional capacity building.

To achieve these objectives, the collaboration will focus on several critical work streams. The institutions will conduct thorough assessments of EEC’s organizational culture and human capital readiness before co-developing a customized corporate innovation strategy. Additionally, the partnership outlines the establishment of an internal Corporate Incubation Center to support employee-led ventures, alongside structured capacity building in design thinking, agile project management, and leadership development. The program will be supported by ongoing corporate advisory services to align innovation metrics with EEC’s long-term business goals.

The collaboration aims to co-create a dynamic corporate ecosystem where entrepreneurial thinking drives measurable, real-world impact. By equipping public enterprise with an innovative mindset, the initiative establishes a strong, resilient foundation for sustainable national development and industrial efficiency.
