Driving Ethiopia’s Job Center Transformation through Specialized Skills Excellence

A newly concluded national training initiative by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS), and the World Bank is set to modernize employment service delivery across Ethiopia by embedding dignity, advanced technology, and high-performance management into local job centers.

This comprehensive initiative directly upgrades national employment hubs by standardizing critical operational modules. The specialized curriculum focused on optimizing labor market dynamics, advancing case management, refining job matching, and integrating modern digital tools. By embedding emotional intelligence and career guidance into daily operations, the program ensures every job seeker receives highly professional, responsive, and respectful institutional support.

To achieve these outcomes, the program utilized an immersive, practical modality. Participants advanced their competencies through real-world case studies, operational simulations, and workplace-focused assignments designed to bridge theory with frontline application. These newly certified professionals will now act as strategic champions across the country, directly connecting citizens to sustainable livelihoods and improving employment outcomes nationwide.

The intensive six-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program was held from June 15–20, 2026, in Addis Ababa. It brought together a highly specialized cohort, equipping EDI Trainers, national trainers, and labor experts from MoLS and regional Bureaus of Labor and Skills (BoLS) with the practical toolkits necessary to scale these modules nationwide.

This collaborative effort underlines a shared commitment to sustainable strategic alliances and workforce readiness. By turning trained professionals into frontline champions, EDI and partners remain dedicated to transforming Ethiopian Job Centers.
