May 17, 2025, Bishoftu: The Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) concluded a three-day workshop for Parliamentarians centered on public entrepreneurship, innovation, and future thinking.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples' Representatives (HoPR), Honorable Lomi Bedo, emphasized the powerful synergy between these concepts, stating, "Entrepreneurship is key to unlocking national opportunities and reducing poverty." She stated that the workshop has a role in sharpening policies to enhance a thriving innovation ecosystem for a more prosperous future.
Her Excellency Muferihat Kamil, Minister of Labour and Skills, highlighted the importance of public entrepreneurship and innovation in cultivating a dynamic culture across all sectors, thereby creating opportunities and development. Minister Muferihat also lauded EDI's contributions to advancing the national entrepreneurship agenda, stressing the need for continued strengthening and support of the sector for national prosperity.
Throughout the workshop, discussions highlighted the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in unlocking opportunities and driving development.
The Parliament also recognized EDI for its contributions in advancing entrepreneurship and innovation in the nation. Furthermore, the event pinpointed key asks for the sector's further advancement.
Together, HoPR, MoLS, and EDI will collaborate and scale entrepreneurship and innovation for Ethiopia's continued national growth.
