Parliament Urges Strengthening Entrepreneurial Mindset for National Development

Ethiopia's Parliament stated the need to Strengthen an entrepreneurial mindset nationwide to unlock the country's vast untapped resources. Recognizing this shift as crucial for poverty eradication and accelerated national growth, the House of People's Representatives (HoPR) Speaker, Honorable Tagese Chafo, stressed the importance of breaking free from conventional thinking and enhancing a resource-utilizing approach. This call to action emerged during a discussion held on May 29, 2025, between parliamentary leaders and the senior leadership of the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS), highlighting the transformative role of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute.

Deputy Speaker, Honorable Lomi Bedo, on her part, emphasized the necessity of continuous institutional capacity building and leveraging national knowledge to address complex challenges. House of People's Representatives (HoPR) Chief Government Whip, Honorable Tesfaye Beljige (PhD), urged a collective drive to change mindsets and foster national prosperity through enhanced creativity, mirroring the efforts of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute. The overarching message underlined the power of entrepreneurial thinking as a key driver for national advancement.
>br> Minister of Labor and Skills, Excellency Muferihat Kamil, further elaborated on the need for a digital economy system and digital transformation to sustain national progress. She highlighted the government's focus on promoting creativity, skill development, and an entrepreneurial government system. Moving forward, both Parliament and the Ministry of Labor and Skills have committed to strengthened collaboration on shared objectives, aiming to strengthen ongoing reforms and cultivate an environment conducive to innovation and growth.
