Parliament Anchors National Growth in Regenerative Leadership

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), in collaboration with the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HoPR), has successfully concluded a high-level leadership workshop aimed at strengthening institutional transformation and endurance. The program, themed "Sustainable Leadership: Leaving Regenerative and Enduring Impact," was conducted from April 23–25 in Adama.

This strategic workshop was designed to reinforce the leadership by transitioning from a transactional mindset toward one of regeneration and institutional endurance. Moving beyond standard metrics of performance, the sessions equipped parliamentarians with the strategic frameworks necessary to architect a foundation that outlasts individual service periods and strengthens the institution for the long term.

During the closing ceremony, Honorable Lomi Bedo, Deputy Speaker of the House, noted that the workshop significantly strengthens initiatives already developed by the Parliament. She emphasized that these sessions enhance problem-solving methodologies to better address national challenges through adaptive leadership and social transformation.

The program included exercises to diagnose authentic leadership and transition governance toward regenerative practices. Participants worked to engineer institutional resilience, ensuring the House remains robust in the face of global complexity.

Government Deputy Whip, Professor Mihretu Shanko, shared a reflection on the nature of leadership during the training. "You can't really lead effectively if you're only used to being comfortable," Dr. Mihretu noted. He emphasized that because parliamentarians are leaders who have navigated various real-world challenges, they are uniquely positioned to understand the rationale behind national directions and provide the clear guidance needed for the country’s next steps.

Hassan Hussien (PhD), CEO of EDI, emphasized that this partnership represents a pivotal shift in how leadership capacity is built at the highest levels of governance. "Our goal is to equip leaders with the competencies to build systems that are self-renewing," Dr. Hassan remarked. "By internalizing regenerative principles, the Parliament can ensure that its impact on national growth remains consistent and sustainable regardless of global shifts."

By embedding the Regenerative Leadership and other adaptive mastery tools, EDI and the HoPR are enhancing the leadership’s capacity to navigate global shifts and maintain a trajectory of consistent, regenerative growth.
