EDI and Ministry of Health Partner to Accelerate Healthcare Innovation via Intensive DYV Program

ADAMA, Ethiopia — The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, successfully concluded a 10-day "Design Your Venture" (DYV) intensive program in February 2026, aimed at transforming healthcare delivery through scalable innovation.

The program targeted a select cohort of health sector innovators identified by the Ministry, equipping them with advanced design-thinking methodologies to test and validate disruptive business models.

This initiative serves as a cornerstone of the Ministry of Health’s broader strategy to modernize Ethiopia's healthcare landscape by bridging the gap between clinical expertise and entrepreneurial execution.

Throughout the 10-day series, participants were guided through the full venture-development lifecycle from identifying critical end-user needs in the public health system to developing Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). The curriculum specifically addressed long-standing systemic challenges, including service delivery bottlenecks and the integration of private health ventures into the national health framework.

The DYV framework focuses on entrepreneurial readiness, ensuring that innovators move beyond theoretical concepts toward technically feasible, market-validated solutions.

By the conclusion of the program, participants had developed comprehensive business plans using digital tools and refined their pitching skills to secure interest from potential investors and strategic buyers. Beyond technical skill acquisition, the program established a robust peer network of multidisciplinary professionals committed to long-term collaboration.

By concluding this training, EDI and the Ministry of Health reaffirm their commitment to developing a new generation of healthcare leaders capable of driving innovation-led reform across Ethiopia’s health sectors.
