Have you ever wondered what happens when passion meets purpose? Meet Nigus Gurmis, a lecturer turned entrepreneur, whose story is nothing short of a revolution a revolution in a sack of quality animal feed, that is!
Nigus, with a degree in agricultural economics and a heart full of dedication, found his calling not only in the lecture hall but also in the heart of Mizan Aman. The catalyst was the Entrepreneurship Training Workshop by EDI through the SEED Program, in collaboration with the Mastercard foundation.
This wasn't just another workshop; it was a spark! Inspired by the experiential, behavioral, and hands-on training, Nigus and his five friends identified a critical need: a reliable animal feed processing plant. They didn't just talk about it; they built it!
The plant, born from a humble 250,000 birr investment, is now a thriving enterprise worth millions of birr, employing 23 people, and producing 5,000 quintals of animal feed monthly! It’s the first of its kind in the region, a proof to their vision and hard work.
Nigus's journey proves that with the right training and a collaborative spirit, dreams can become reality. From identifying a need to securing lease financing from the Development Bank of Ethiopia, every step of their journey is a lesson in entrepreneurship.
We at EDI are incredibly proud to have played a part in Nigus's success.
