EDI Workshop Equips TVT Leaders for Enhanced Overseas Employment Training

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) has concluded a vital three-day "Discovery Workshop" in Addis Ababa on the theme "Innovating TVT training for overseas work readiness."

The event brought together over 370 leaders from Ethiopia’s public and private TVT colleges and overseas employment-training centers.The workshop aimed to strengthen Ethiopia’s position in the global labor market by equipping participants with the skills to design responsible, effective, and market-aligned training programs.

EDI CEO Dr. Hassen Hussien opened the sessions by emphasizing the institute’s commitment to supporting TVT institutions in developing entrepreneurial and life skills that are vital for national economic growth.During the training, participants explored global and national trends in overseas employment, conducted institutional self-assessments, and worked on defining clear, value-driven missions for their organizations.

The curriculum included modern learning methodologies, leadership in training centers, and tools such as customer journey mapping to help create trainee-focused programs. Collaborative discussions allowed participants to share experiences, address common challenges in the TVT sector, and develop a shared vision for improved training quality.

The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony that featured a briefing on the overseas employment process by Birhanu Ailka, Labor Market Information System Project Manager, and an interactive feedback session with Her Excellency Muferihat Kamil, Minister of Labor and Skills, alongside Dr. Hassen Hussien.

Participants praised the workshop as a timely capacity-building platform for self-assessment and sharing best practices. Minister Muferihat delivered a powerful closing address highlighting the crucial role of TVT colleges in preparing and safeguarding citizens for overseas employment, while outlining government initiatives and a strategic direction for coordinated national development.
