EDI, MoLS, and World Bank Conclude 10-Day Skills Excellence Training to Advance Job Center Transformation

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) and with technical support from the World Bank, successfully concluded its intensive 10-day Soft and Technical Skills Excellence Training on August 5, 2026.

Running from July 27 to August 5, 2026, the capacity-building program gathered more than 160 frontline Job Center staff members across five strategic hubs—Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, and Dire Dawa.

This milestone directly advances the national Job Center Transformation initiative officially launched in Bishoftu on July 9, 2026, where key national stakeholders gathered to redesign enterprise development and employment services into data-driven engines for sustainable enterprise creation. During this pilot phase, the initiative focuses on upgrading 18 model centers, with long-term plans to scale standardized operations to 200 Job Centers nationwide.

Over the course of the 10-day training, frontline personnel completed 11 practical modules, including labor market analysis, standard operating procedures, emotional intelligence, case management, biometric registration, digital job matching, and employer relations.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, EDI Training Manager Tewodros Abebe praised the participants for their active participation and dedication throughout the program.

"This training is a critical operational step in converting Job Centers into responsive, client-centered Opportunity Hubs," stated Tewodros. "By applying these technical and soft skills in their daily work, our frontline teams will ensure individuals across Ethiopia receive modern, accessible, and dignified enterprise development and employment services."
