The Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS), in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), launched a nationwide Training of Trainers (TOT) program on September 30, 2026, aimed at strengthening the capacity of 1,851 Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) instructors across Ethiopia.
The program commenced with an online opening session led by Dr. Teshale Berecha, State Minister of MoLS. Representing the first of three scheduled rounds, the intensive 10-day training is being conducted at regional centers in Kombolcha, Bahir Dar, and Jimma. In total, the initiative will train 1,671 public and 180 private TVT instructors on three core foundational modules: Entrepreneurship, Human Edge, and Civic and Ethics.
During his opening remarks, Dr. Teshale highlighted the importance of human capital to Ethiopia’s national development and noted that the TVT strategy aligns directly with the Homegrown Economic Reform. He emphasized that strengthening instructors’ competence and ethical grounding is essential to improving training quality and enabling institutions to enhance problem-solving and value creation.
The program is being facilitated by EDI-certified trainers in coordination with the curriculum development experts who designed and piloted the modules.
Upon completing the 10-day training, participating instructors will return to their respective institutions to cascade the foundational curriculum to trainees, helping ensure standardized delivery of these essential skills across the TVT system.
